오는 4월 12일 LA에서 열리는 KBS(한국방송)의 콘서트 프로그램 '열린음악회(LA-K팝 페스티벌)'가 역대 최대 규모로 열린다.
KBS아메리카와 LA한인회는 10일 회견을 갖고 '열린음악회' 무료 공연을 4월 12일 LA메모리얼 콜로시엄에서 개최한다고 발표했다.
주최 측은 이번 공연의 명칭이 '한인미주이민 111주년 LA K-팝 페스티벌'로 잠정 확정됐다고 밝혔다.
이날 공연은 오후 5시30분부터 약 3시간 정도 진행될 예정이며 KBS 사상 역대 최다인 88개국에 방송된다고 KBS측은 밝혔다. 출연진은 대한민국 최정상급 아이돌과 가수 총 14팀을 섭외 중이라고 주최 측은 설명했다.
KBS 아메리카의 김경희 사장은 "이번 LA페스티벌은 찬란한 미주한인 이민 역사를 기림으로써, 미주 한인의 자긍심을 고취하고 세계 속에 우뚝 선 자랑스런 대한민국과 주류 사회로 약진하는 한인사회가 함께 어우러진 한류 축제의 장을 만들기 위해 기획됐다"고 개최 배경을 설명했다.
방송은 행사 후 2주일 후(한국시간 4월 27일 일요일 오후 5시)에 KBS에서 방영된다.
또 공연 당일 오전 11시부터는 한인회 주최의 공식행사를 시작으로, 타인종 K팝 매니아들이 출연하는 K-팝 콘테스트 등, 공연장 주변에서 다양한 행사와 볼거리가 제공될 예정이다. 배무한 LA한인회장은 "이번 공연 개최를 위해 한인사회에서 후원금을 모금하지 않을 것"이라면서 "공연 기획금액의 대부분을 KBS에서 부담했다"고 말했다.

KBS '열린음악회'는 지난 2011년 한국의 UN 가입 20주년을 기념해 '뉴욕코리아 페스티벌'을 진행한 바 있어 LA 개최는 미국에서 두번째로 열리는 것이다.
공연이 열릴 LA메모리얼 콜로시엄은 10만명 수용 규모로 과거 블랙 새버스, 더 킬러스, 그린데이, 브루스 스프링스틴 등의 기라성 같은 스타들이 공연 무대를 펼쳤던 곳으로도 유명하다.

KBS America and the Los Angeles Korean Association will be joining together to host KBS’ music program, “Open Concert (L.A. K-Pop Festival)” to be held on April 12. It will be the biggest event in its history.
On February 10, KBS America and L.A. Korean Association held a press conference announcing the free “Open Concert” to be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on April 12.
The hosts announced the event will be held in celebration of the “111th Anniversary of Koreans in America L.A. K-Pop Festival.”
The concert will begin at 5:30 PM PST and last for about three hours. It will be broadcasted in 88 different countries making it the largest scale event in KBS history. There will be a total of 14 guests including top K-Pop idol groups and singers. So far 2PM, SHINee, Sistar, CNBlue, Dynamic Duo, Girl’s Day, Kim Taewoo, Sul Woondo and Song Sohee have confirmed their attendance to the event.
President Kim Kyung Hee of KBS America stated, “This year’s L.A festival will be held in tribute to the history of Korean immigrants in America. The event was planned to infuse pride to Korean Americans and to create a festival between Korea and the Korean society that is advancing to become mainstream in the world.”
The broadcast of the show will be aired two weeks after the event on April 27 at 5 PM KST on KBS.
The festival will begin at 11 AM PST with various events hosted by the Korean Association including a K-Pop contest. The event will offer a number of events and attractions. President of the L.A. Korean Association Bae Moo Han stated, “We will not be asking for donations from the Korean society for this event. Most of the funds for the event will be funded by KBS.”
KBS’ “Open Concert” hosted the “New York Korea Festival” back in 2011 in celebrating Korea’s 20 years as a member of the U.N. The show in L.A. will be its second show in the U.S.
The event venue, L.A. Memorial Coliseum, holds up to 10,000 people. It has hosted some big names in the past including, Black Sabbath, The Killers, Green Day, and Bruce Springsteen.
